Need to talk privately with Cilan? Send him a message via the crystal or carrier pigeon? Want to meet with him without posting a log for it? Here's the place to do it!
[Cilan, too, is quite happy to see that Red appears to be enjoying himself here. This is so nice, getting to hang out in such a great place with our best friend...
... But then, Cilan remembers something that he needs to ask.]
[... Cilan's face is doing that weird thing it did before the second or last time he talked about Sonia in front of Red, a slight shade of pink coloring his face as he talks...]
I've been meaning to prepare something for her, as well as help with teaching her a recipe for a type of dessert in the kitchen... or at least I hope she would like the idea of this taste...
[ Cilan why is your face doing that weird thing, who even does that, it's Weird. ]
So... you want to spend a day in the kitchen with her? [ Is he getting this right, his gaze flicking between his plate and Cilan's face just to see that yep, that weird look is still there.
But he shrugs it off, or shrugs anyway when what he thinks Cilan's concern might be. ]
You don't have to worry about me or the pokémon and the porrings if you're gonna be busy, I'll get my own food. [ Ah- ] Do you want me to look after your guys too?
Alright. Maybe I'll check out Shaarnath then. I've been meaning to go back and check on the wurms...
Is that okay with you? I'll bring the pokémon back the next day. [ Since hey, if he gets a week-long ticket then he doesn't need to pay the full price again for a quick trip back.
He finishes of the rest of his biscuit, nothing strange about that other than Cilan's weird expression at the start there. Right? Right. ]
That sounds like an excellent idea! I think they'll love it.
[Much more exciting and interesting for them than Cilan making weird faces around Sonia, that's for sure. But at least he's not making that face now, as he smiles brightly.]
Thank you for doing this for me Red, I really appreciate it!
You don't have to thank me, it's just a cooking lesson! [ Just a boring, old, normal thing and nothing else. ] Anyway, you take care of the porrings all the time for me. I should take them out with me more. And your pokémon are always fun to be around.
[ He's smiling brightly back, something quick about his words but lively all the same. He takes a tart from his platter, breaking it in a careful half like-- everything is normal. Like he isn't trying to avoid anything else being said to his assumption about Cilan's cheery mood. Like there's not a part of him that wants to ask him about that face he makes, why it's about Sonia, why he cares--
The crust of the pastry crumbles, and a few of the berries on top fall off, and Red murmurs a small noise as the sticky sweetness gets over his fingers. Oops-- he reaches for a serviette to wipe that away, rubbing rather roughly to get it off. ]
[ Maybe he does need another one, for where he's tried to wipe off the sauce, it's become hard and stuck on his fingers, leaving torn off fractions of the serviette on them, as if glue. Red looks between the one he has and the fresh one offered...
...Napkins aren't the answer here. Frustration hums from his mouth, and then he's standing up, shaking his head and keeping his palms facing himself. ]
There's a wash room. I'll wash up and be back in a sec.
[ No big deal, it's a lucky thing there's even a wash room at all. But off Red will go for a minute to go and clear off the mess, the tart that's been left behind on the crumbled napkin looking dry indeed, and the berries more a vile colour than they probably should. Did they look like that before? It looks like something his gengar would spit out.
But don't be nosy. That's rude.
Red eventually returns, clean hands and no patches of paper napkins stuck to his hands and an embarrassed smile once he sits back down. ]
You keep it. I brought you here to try out the food, not make you feel bad. I should know better than to get annoyed over making a mess. It just makes a bigger one!
[ It makes sense, doesn't it, an explanation for the dodgy tart he's cleaning back onto its plate and putting the napkin over. There. ]
[There's a bit of a pause, before Cilan considers their surroundings again, conversing absentmindedly.]
... You know, now that I think about it... this cafe almost reminds me a little of the one they show in "The Princess Pokemon's Holiday"; a quaint spot with a cute flavor, perfect when it comes to matching up to the tastes of royalty... though, it's been a while since I last watched that movie, so I'd have to find a way to watch it again sometime when I'm able to.
Huh. [ That's a thought, one that Red's silent for, briefly. ] Do you miss watching movies? You know, they have a theatre around here, somewhere. Have you ever been to one here?
[ And did it scratch the movie itch at all? ...not entirely, surely, but there's an idea. ]
I have, actually! The shows they put on have an interesting taste to them, though it's been a while since I last visited a theater here.
[Probably not since that one show he went to with Sonia, maybe? Hrm.]
Still, it's not quite the same as a movie, you know? Not only is it a treat to see these stories being presented by talented actors, the special effects and cinematography can sometimes give the experience a unique flavor, if utilized correctly.
Hmm, I guess... [ No, he knows, but at the same time, there really isn't a way to have anything like that in this world, is there?
... ] You could try remembering a movie on one of the memory petals... would that work? I don't know how long the movie would play for... but we've got to be a long way from TV shows with special effects.
[ How long would one of those petals keep going for, anyway? ]
[There's a strange sort of pause as Cilan stares at Red for a moment... and then suddenly slams his hands on the table, shaking the table with the force of it.]
Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that sooner??
[Judging by his tone, however, it's not frustration, but excitement that his emotional state is in as he reaches across the table to grab Red's shoulders. (Look at all that sparkly glitter ending up in their food now too, whoops)]
Red, after we're done here, let's go to the Memory Tree! We have to try to see if we can get one of these memory petals to work!!
[ You better be dragging him out of the door by the time they've placed away the food into the boxes and carrier bag, Cilan. Red is downing that tea for you! ]
[Good thinking Red, because Cilan is absolutely going to be dragging you out the door once everything is properly situated, not letting go of his friend's arm until they reach the memory tree as he steps back away, considering.]
Now that we're here... which movie to start with first, I wonder? There's so many different flavors to choose from: there's the one I mentioned before with Princess Pokemon's Holiday, or something a little more action-oriented like The Tyranic Tyranitar or Enter the Beartic...
is this the part where I'm going to have to start apologizing again
... But then, Cilan remembers something that he needs to ask.]
Hey, Red?
This Is Fine
Yeah?
we are okay with the events currently unfolding
This may sound strange to suddenly ask about, but... what would you think if I wanted to invite Sonia over for dinner sometime this week?
no subject
Sure. I don't mind.

[He's so glad that you're so understanding Red, and at the second question, he nods.]
That might not be a bad idea, actually. Pansage might stick around, but I'm not sure Crustle and Stunfisk would have as much fun in the kitchen...

[ The weekend is Cilan's free time and all. ]

But then he blinks at the pastry falling apart in Red's hands.]
Oh dear, it looks like that one was a little too soft, perhaps...
[Here, do you wanna borrow one of our napkins too, because he's reaching to grab another to offer for his friend.]

Here, you can have one of mine: this one should have a suitable taste for you, I think.

O-- okay! [ He can't even glimpse between them, looking back at the face full of Cilan in front of him in the brief effort. ]
You sure you can wait that long? [ Are you really really sure. ]
