...Well, I suppose it couldn't hurt to give it a try. [He gives up on fixing his hair for now as he shrugs a little, offering a small smile.] Perhaps this could be the missing ingredient I needed in order to successfully change this taste of exhaustion to something a little less bitter...?

[ Well, at least he doesn't have to feel bad about waking you up if you weren't sleeping, but that and Cilan's response does give Ash the idea that his friend has been having trouble sleeping tonight.

Well, hopefully he's come with the solution. ]

Yeah. Do you want me ta bring her here to your room? I don't think she'll mind. Or you could come to my room, if you want.

[ Either way works for Ash since Venusaur's scent hasn't helped him sleep tonight. ]

Well...I don't want to inconvenience Venasaur with having to move, so perhaps I'll stay in your room for tonight. Let me just grab something from my room first.

[He turns away and goes back inside his room for a moment. There's some noise from somewhere in the room--it sounds like by now they've woken up Pansage with their conversation, so when Cilan returns, he's got a pillow under one arm and a grass monkey attached to his shoulder, who gives a sleepy wave to it's fellow Pokemon.]

Alright, it's sleepover time! [Let's go! /o/]

Okay.

[ Ash waits while Cilan goes and fetches Pansage and his pillow, giving some attention to his electric mouse while doing so. When he's back Pikachu gives a wave back to the sleepy monkey as Ash gives Cilan a smile. ]

Yeah! Let's head back to my room.

[ Which ... is a very short trip. Ash quietly opens the door careful not to wake Red's Venusaur (if she's asleep he doesn't actually know) to step inside. ]

You can take the bed. I'll sleep on the floor tonight.

Oh no, you don't have to do that! I don't want to take your bed from you, so I'll take the floor, okay?

[(How much do you wanna bet that Cilan would be saying the same thing regardless of whose room it was or not?)]

[ Ash shakes his head ]

You should have the bed Cilan. It's more comfy than the floor and I want you ta be as comfy as you can be.

[ The more relaxing everything is the better chance it will work right? ]

[Aww] That's sweet of you, Ash, but I don't think I'd be very happy if you had to sleep on an uncomfortable floor.

[I mean they could always share, but then that would make all the joke tags I keep getting sound more true than they actually are.]

Well, I'm not gonna be very happy if you sleep on the floor and since it's my room I'm gonna sleep on the floor you're gonna sleep on the bed and that's that.

[ Perfect logic here unless you want to share and make those joke tags more true than they actually are.

But otherwise Ash is going to walk over to his bed to pick up his pillows and dump them on the floor. ]

[Pffft wow, Ash. Cilan has to give a sigh at that.]

If you're gonna do that, then I don't really have a choice, do I? [So Cilan will reluctantly walk over to sit on the side of the bed closest to the door, but instead of putting down his pillow, he holds it up like he's about to drop the pillow he brought right onto the floor too, teasing a little.] ...Or, I could always insist on using the floor too, and then both of us would have to be uncomfortable for the rest of the night, which I'm sure would not help either of us with getting any sleep.

[Which, would sort of defeat the purpose of even having him here. After a slight pause, he retracts the pillow back away from potentially being dropped onto the floor.]

Of course, I don't mind if you want to share the bed instead of the floor, but I'll leave that up to you. For now, I'll go ahead and accept the offer to take the bed for myself, unless it starts to look like you really are that uncomfortable down there on your own.

[It's not like ~~this thread isn't questionable enough as it is~~ it would be the first time they did that (Granted that was a fictional place with a larger bed and Iris and Meowth were there too) so he doesn't really care either way. But for now, yes, you win Ash, you get the floor, but he'll leave enough room up here in case you change your mind.]

Nope! [ He watches Cilan go over to the bed and when Cilan teases about dropping his pillow on the floor Ash for a moment looks like he would have came in and tried to catch the pillow before it actually hit the floor, completely with a small pout. ]

No, it wouldn't. But, [ back to smiling, though it's smaller this time ] don't worry 'bout me. You just focus on tryin' to get a good sleep. Venusaur is here with her sweet scent to help soo... If I havta I'll get on the bed but only if it gets really uncomfortable. But I won't be alone down here: I have Pikachu and Venusaur down here with me!

[ ~~shhh shh theyre just two really.. good... friends having a sleepover there's nothing questionable about it~~. Pikachu will give a sleepy 'Pika' in agreement, though it's not hard to tell that he kind of wishes Ash would sleep on the bed. But hey, he'll put effort and looking like he's going to be comfortable, fluffing his pillow and everything. Although he doesn't actually lay down just yet since it seems like he's waiting for someone else to get comfortable. ]

Hm, if you insist... [Pansage climbs off of Cilan's shoulder as Cilan drops his pillow onto the bed. Pansage certainly has no objection to sleeping on the bed, seeing as it curls up at the foot of the bed right away, while Cilan adjusts the pillow and blankets. (And making sure that Ash has enough pillows and blankets too, which he'll add more to the floor pile as he so chooses.)

Once he appears to be happy enough with his arrangements (and yours), Cilan will finally be situated now. He doesn't actually lay down yet, though, 'cause he still can't help but think this is terrible for you to have to sleep on the floor.]

Are you sure you're going to be alright down there, Ash?

[ Oh. Hello blankets. Ash wasn't thinking about even using any blankets before Cilan added them to the floor. But Cilan probably wouldn't be very happy if he put them back on the bed so he'll adjust the blankets and slip under them once Cilan seemed situated. Once he's done so he looks at his friend and smiles. ]

'Course! It'll be like sleeping on the ground outside... 'cept with blankets and pillow instead of a sleeping bag. You just try n' get some sleep. I hope Venusaur's sweet scent helps ya.

[Okay, that gets a little bit of a laugh--he wishes he could remember where the old sleeping bag was that's stuffed in the closet somewhere, he would have let Ash borrow it...]

Alright, but if you need anything, please don't hesitate to let me know. [Finally, he seems willing to try lying down and getting comfortable, but first--]

Good night, Ash. I hope you're able to get some sleep tonight, too.

[He's already suspected that you might not have been able to earlier, but if our presence somehow helps, then at least he can hope for that, right?]

[ You should do something about that multidimensional spaced closet of yours Cilan. ]

Yeah, I will. And let me know if ya need anythin'. [ And he finally lays down himself, but of course-- ]

[ Now, why would you suspect that (other than coming to your room in the middle of the night asking if you wanted help sleeping). Ash turns and finally gets comfortable, back facing Cilan because he's actually not... quite ready to go back to sleep yet. Trying to go to sleep with the sweet scent has already failed for him once tonight.

So he'll just... lay there for a bit and listen carefully for any noises that he might hear from behind him. While trying not to get caught, of course. ]

[Well Ash, I hate to disappoint you, but it doesn't sound like there's much noise coming from Cilan, other than, after a momentary pause, the sound of him rolling over to face the opposite direction as well. Other than that, it doesn't sound like he's falling asleep yet, at least not right away.

In fact, that might be because he's currently doing the exact same thing you're doing right now--quietly listening to hear if Ash falls asleep first. Once he's sure that Ash is able to sleep, then maybe sleep will come easier to him too.

...So basically nothing is going to happen unless somebody falls asleep first or somebody breaks the silence here.]

[ Tick tock tick tock tick tock...

Wow. It sure is quiet around here.

Let us thank the fact that Ash is only ten and can't keep himself awake while laying there still. Especially when he's someone who isn't good at sitting still in the first place. So while he tried to stay still and awake eventually he started to doze off into some sort of slumber.

Only to jerk awake a few moments later, causing the electric mouse at his side to perk his ears up and give him a look of concern, but with the look Ash has didn't dare speak like he normally would. ]

[Unfortunately (or fortunately...?), Cilan had not fallen asleep yet by the time Ash drifted off. Even with hearing what sounded like Ash having fallen asleep behind him, he was still having a little trouble with doing the same, mind racing as he thought about different things. Some of them being inane like what he'd like to make for dinner tomorrow or what not, other thoughts then turning to thinking about the reason why he had been awake to begin with--the beginnings of a nightmare that had jolted him out of his sleep before Ash came knocking on his door.

Honestly, the idea of having that nightmare in the same room as Ash's right now didn't exactly help to ease his mind. But eventually, he started to relax a little more and just as he was starting to finally give in and drift off, he suddenly heard some noise behind him and for a moment he tenses, listening. Did Ash wake up again? ...Should he call out and see?

For now, he tries to stay and quiet and just listen, in case it turns out that Ash was still asleep. Maybe if he's lucky, Ash and Pikachu haven't noticed yet...]

[ Sorry losers, you're really too obvious to this oversized flower right here in your 'I'M SLEEPING BUT I'M NOT'. And while Pikachu might say silent, Venusaur doesn't in a small growl on the floor, a sound of concern if it can be understood for Ash's sudden jolt. ]

[ Ash was just going to stay still until he hears Venusaur's small growl. Oops, he was found out by someone. He doesn't say anything for a moment before speaking up in more than just a whisper. ]

I'm okay. Sorry for wakin' you.

[ If Venusaur was even asleep. But it's towards Pikachu as well, giving the electric mouse a few pets before glancing back at Cilan's bed. he didn't wake up, did he? ]

[...Well, that answers that. Ash is definitely awake right now.

Cilan doesn't move or say anything yet, but the growling noise appears to have woken up Pansage, who opens an eye to look at Ash and Pikachu sleepily, before glancing at it's trainer...and proceeding to stare at him for a little bit longer. Yeah, it can tell that it's trainer is awake right now too, you're not fooling anyone except maybe Ash here.]

[ It's Pikachu that notices Pansage waking up, heading tilting a little before figuring out where - or rather who - Pansage was staring at after looking at him and Ash.

Although Ash is still being fooled, Pikachu does start connecting the dots. Once he does he crawls over Ash and hops onto the bed. ]

--Ah. Pikachu, what are you doing?

[ He's ignored as Pikachu goes over to where Pansage is to look in the same direction as the grass monkey. Let's find out what's happening here, shall we. ]

[...What's happening here is Cilan not even noticing his Pokemon staring at him (He had been looking at the wall, a little too into his thoughts again after hearing Ash say something to Venasaur) until he happens to glance over.

But before he can even think to do some kind of discreet gesture to signal for it to be quiet or not draw attention to us, he can hear Ash saying something about Pikachu now, and sure enough, there's now an electric mouse Pokemon coming over to stare too.

...Uh. Is it too late to pretend that we're still asleep?]

[ Yep, too late. Pikachu sees that you're awake, Cilan. So either you never went to sleep or Ash woke you up. So now he's going to notify his trainer of such by going back over to Ash, hopping into his lap, and pretends to go to sleep for a minute.

But only for a minute before perking his ears and waking back up and pointing at Cilan. ]

Eh? Are you...

[ He stops and turns his attention to Cilan. ]

Cilan?

[...Welp, purrloin's out of the bag. Upon being called, Cilan stirs before sitting up a little, turning to look over at Ash.]

Hey, Ash. [A slight pause, before he brushes some of his hair out of his face.] Sorry, I heard you were awake, but I didn't want to say anything in case you were about to go back to sleep again right away.

[And the reason he admits to some honesty now is because Pansage just gave him a look that suggests that playing the "oh I just now woke up card" wasn't gonna fly with it.]

Mm... it's okay. I wasn't... gonna go back to sleep right away anyways.

[ We're gonna be honest here ourselves because well... we were never really that great about being dishonest to begin with. ]

... Have ya been able t' get any sleep yet.
