[ Ash just stares at Cilan confused until he explains. Even after that he doesn't fully understand. ]

[ He stops because yes. Yes he is kinda of doing that he was going to say. Um. ]

I've already gotten some sleep tonight. But I dunno if you've gotten any sleep so if you haven't then you should!

[ THERE WE GO. FLAWLESS. Even though it has almost nothing to do with what Cilan said. ]

Yes, I know. I just thought it was amusing to hear you say it like that, that's all.

[Blame the lack of sleep for Cilan finding what you said funny, okay. Or maybe the Sweet Scent is sort of working and is making him a little more relaxed.]

That said, until we are able to fall back asleep again, is there anything that you'd like to talk about? Perhaps a conversation about Pokemon or whatever else you'd like to discuss would help put both of us at ease, and thus able to sleep better.

[ Hey is the sweet scent is relaxing you then that's good! Doesn't help with Ash's not understanding how it was amusing. The fact that he's tired doesn't help either. ]

I know! There are some Pokemon you've never seen before until ya got here, right? Are there any kind o' Pokemon that you wanna see someday?

[ Naaaah gonna follow you up on that Pokemon suggestion instead. Y'know, something he'd like to talk about. ]

[Dang it Ash.]

Hm...well, the majority of trainers here from Kanto and Johto have made me curious about the Pokemon they have living there, so I'm sure it would be fun to see so many more of them someday, if I was ever to travel to those regions. After all, before I came here to Luceti, I had never seen Pokemon like Gyarados or even our friend Venasaur here. [Gesturing to the Venasaur in the room.] At least, not in person anyway, until then I had only read about them in books or had seen them on TV and the like.

There have also been one or two trainers from Hoenn and Sinnoh here in the past as well, and they also had many interesting Pokemon with them too--oh, speaking of Hoenn though, there is a Pokemon called Wailord that migrates from there to the oceans of Unova once in a while, but I haven't had a chance to see one yet since they can only be watched from the eastern coast of Unova. From what I know of them, they have quite a unique taste to them, since due to their impressive size, they are considered one of the largest Pokemon in the world, so I think it would be interesting to get to see one of those someday too!

[Too bad Cilan doesn't have any memories of Season Two, otherwise he would know that they did get to see a glimpse of them on their way to Eastern Unova.]

[ Did you really expect him not to choose that option.

But he listens with a small smile. ]

It's a lot different actually seein' the Pokemon than just readin' 'em in books, right? It's a whole 'nother experience and ya get to make friends along the way. And a lotta Pokemon are different than what a book or even the Pokedex might say about them.

[ ~~WE'RE NOT TOTALLY HINTING ABOUT A PURPLE CAT HERE NOPE~~ His smile brightens a bit ] Wailord, huh? It's true they're reaaally big! It's really cool seein' one in person and it's even cooler when ya get to ride on one! It's a lot different than riding on a ship.

You got to ride on one before, Ash? [aaahhh] That's amazing! I wish I had been there to see it...

Oh, what about you? Are there any Pokemon that you'd like to see someday as well?

Yeah! It was back in when we were travelin' in Hoenn.

[ Hoenn. That brings back a few memories. But he just smiles determinedly at Cilan's question to him, not even missing a beat. ]

Any Pokemon that I've never seen before! There's gotta be a lotta Pokemon that I've still haven't met and I wanna see all of 'em one day!

[Somehow that answer doesn't surprise Cilan at all.]

Well, knowing you, I'm sure you'll be able to accomplish that! After all, you've already done so much during your journey, so I suppose it would only be a matter of time until you'll have met every type of Pokemon there is to see, and likely befriended more than half of them by then.

[It's always impressed him how you've been able to make so many friends, even during the time they spent traveling together, so he has no doubt in his mind that you're probably going to make even more friends as soon as you leave this place.]

We dunno how many other Pokemon there are out there so I probably still have a long way to go. But not knowin' what new Pokemon I'm gonna meet next makes everything more exciting! And no matter what happens as long as I have my friends with me I'll be okay.

[ As he mentions that last part he glances at Pikachu who returns the look with a smile before looking back at Cilan. ]

And I dunno if I'll make friends with more than half of 'em but I do wanna make friends with as many as I can!

Yes, that's the spirit! [After a moment of thought, Cilan claps his hands together] Hm, just as I thought! All this talk about Pokemon appears to have had quite a fun and relaxing taste for the two of us, wouldn't you agree?

[Sure, they didn't talk about what SHOULD have been talked about, but he's happy to see that you're in a much better mood now than you were in before.]

Hm? Well, yeah! Talking 'bout Pokemon is always fun and relaxing isn't it? And it's somethin' that we could always talk 'bout for a long as we wanted to!

[ Just how many times could they have possibly have done this instead of what they SHOULD have been talking about. ]

Mm, agreed. I'm sure we could spend quite a long time talking about them.

[Though, he is starting to run out of things to say, but they may be due to his own exhaustion. So for a moment, Cilan's gone kind of quiet, and for a moment one could easily be forgiven for thinking that perhaps he's starting to fall asleep, but then he suddenly speaks up again--he's not quite ready to give in yet, not until he thinks he's sure that Ash is also gonna be able to fall back asleep again soon too.]

So, was there anything else that you'd like to discuss, Ash? [About Pokemon or anything else, really.]

[ During the silence Ash finds himself yawning and rubbing his eyes. Exhaustion is starting to take hold again but does he really want to try going back to sleep so soon...?

He zones out, finding himself jumping just a little when Cilan speak again. ]

Huh? Oh. Umm... [ he frowns. he actually can't think of anything to talk about but he wants to think of something. ]

Well... I can't think of anything but is there anything you wanted t' discuss? [ smooooooth ]

Hm...well, we could always talk about other things like how our Pokemon's training is going, or something else--surely, there must be other things in Luceti that can hold our interest. [In fact there is something that he's wanted to talk to Ash about, but...there's a slight pause, before Cilan decides to continue talking.]

...Speaking of which, how are things going for you here? Make any new friends recently? [Talking about friends is good, right?]

[ Ash thinks about it for a little bit longer before Cilan continues talking. His train of thought simply stops as he answers the questions. ]

Things are goin' okay. [ It's gotten perhaps a little better, but a few things have been how they have been. ] And yeah, yeah of course! Y'know it's a little different making friends here than back home 'cause we all don't have the same thing in common [ Pokemon, of course ] but it's still a lotta fun to make new friends here.

... And how 'bout you, Cilan?

Mm, it's about the same for me too. Things have been relatively well, for the most part. [Except for the recent time shift shenanigans sometimes, those can be annoying. (Just wait until he ends up spending a good chunk of time being startled by "ghosts" of people showing up soon too.)]

It could be better here, but I'm glad that this taste is a relatively normal one, at least for now.

[He's glad there isn't a draft going on right now, that's for sure.]

Yeah, same here. [ The time shifts are weird (and the ghosts in the future aren't fun) but it doesn't really bother Ash that much if at all unless it gets in the way of something... like food ]

... How much longer 'til it does get better.

[ He's tired. And he's tired of being tired and ignoring it during the day so he can continue to enjoy himself. And hopefully it gets better before something else like a draft happens (and that they have spoken about it otherwise there will be words) ]

...I don't know. [Which might be a little surprising for Cilan to say--normally, he'd immediately say "It'll get better soon, promise!", but he's tired. Tired of not getting a proper amount of sleep, tired of being tired and trying to ignore it so that he can still keep up with things going on during the day, so it doesn't even occur to him to try to amend his comment until after a couple more seconds of silence.]

--I mean, I certainly hope that it will get better sooner rather than later, but I can't say for sure when that would be, since it seems like there are a couple of odd things happening around here lately. [The time shifts, he means.] For now, we'll have to continue to do our best to persevere, okay?

[ It was a little surprising and Ash shifts a little uncomfortably. The few seconds of silence didn't help. But he doesn't say anything. ]

I don't care about th' odd things that are happening. [ Spoken a bit more blunt than he meant, but he's at that point where he doesn'teven register it. His later words aren't much better. ] I... Yeah. I guess we don't really have a choice. But we've gotten through it so far so... we can do it.

[Cilan winces a little at the bluntness of his words, and the lack of enthusiasm for the latter ones certainly gets a frown.]

Yeah, of course we can. Plus, we have each other, so we'll be able to help one another through whatever difficulties there may or may not be. [There's a small pause, before Cilan abruptly changes the subject.]

Are you still comfortable enough on the floor down there? Like I said before, you can always move over here if that will help you sleep a little easier. [Whether that involves Cilan trading places or moving over to give enough room, either way the option is there.]

[ Oops, sorry Cilan. Ash wasn't even really looking in your direction so he didn't see your reaction to them. And although Ash could have responded to those words of yours you changed the subject so rather than bringing it back he'll just adjust himself on the floor, moving his sheets a little in order to try and get a bit more comfortable. ]

I'll be okay. You can stay on the bed with Pansage.

[ stubborn stubborn stubborn ]

[Frownnn...before an idea suddenly occurs to him.]

Okay...though, I think Pansage and I would be able to sleep easier if we knew you were in a more comfortable place to sleep too, right Pansage? [Pansage gives him a look like "huh" for a second before he catches on and starts nodding in agreement. The whole point was Ash wanting Cilan to be able to sleep and prove the Sweet Scent works, right? Implying we literally can't sleep if you're on the floor might get you to stop being stubborn...maybe?

Okay this is kind of a deviously weird plan even for Cilan but look, the line has to be drawn somewhere. So, it's worth a try, right?]

But, I guess if you're so sure about staying down there on the floor...

[ Ash was ready to protest again anything that Cilan said again but stops himself from doing so when he actually hears what Cilan said and sees Pansage's nodding. He glances at Pikachu and is given a nod of encouragement before he finally brings his attention back to Cilan.

He looks uncertain about this but... ]

... So... if we sleep on the bed too you'll be able to sleep easier? Are ya sure?

[Is it working??] Yes, I'm sure of it! This way, it will become a better and more beneficial taste for us!

[And how can you say no to this face, okay.]

[ One more look at Pikachu before he responds ]

... 'kay, but only 'cause I want ya to have a good sleep. We'll come sleep on th' bed too.

[ Give him a moment to scoop his pillows and blankets off the floor so he can bring them to the bed. In the meantime Pikachu will hop back onto the bed and perch himself next to Pansage. ]
