Need to talk privately with Cilan? Send him a message via the crystal or carrier pigeon? Want to meet with him without posting a log for it? Here's the place to do it!
Yes, that's right. Humans and Pokemon have been living in close proximity to one another for a very long time... in fact, I don't think there's any place in our world where you wouldn't be able to find a Pokemon living there.
Because of that, you'll find that most people that come from my world are Pokemon trainers, or at least have a Pokemon companion of some kind accompanying them.
[When Hizumi crouches down a little closer to Pansage, the Pokemon blinks a little in surprise, before it then smiles and holds out a paw to him, as if offering a handshake. Nice to meet you, Hizumi.]
[He has to wonder if the people in Cilan's world are simply highly effective at training other species. He will go ahead and shake the pokémon's paw, however.]
Nice to meetcha! Do you usually give 'em nicknames, or do you just call 'em by their species, or...?
There are plenty of Pokemon that still live in the wild, but yes, there are just as many that have chosen to live in the company of people...
[So yeah, everywhere and anywhere.]
Some people will certainly give them nicknames upon befriending them, while others call them by their species name. I'll admit that I'm the latter, in this particular case.
[Not that he doesn't think his Pokemon aren't deserving of nicknames, just... they've been together for so long that calling them by a different name now would be a little strange.]
Well... [And here, he looks at his Pokemon, at Pansage in particular.] I've had Pansage with me since a very young age, and back then my brothers and I didn't think of any really good nicknames to give Pansage and the others we had with us. By the time I met Crustle and Stunfisk about... a year or so ago, it felt strange to try to call my partners by a different name?
No, not really. I've been with my Pokemon for so long that honestly, if they were lost somewhere in a crowd of their own kind, I'd be able to immediately tell which one was my friend from sight alone.
[He sure sounds pretty confident about that...]
After all, just because they look similar to other Pokemon of their species doesn't mean that they don't have their own unique taste that separates them from the others.
[does anyone really know what that situation is in pokemon world though]
Well, as a Pokemon Connoisseur, it's important to be eloquent when it comes to sharing our thoughts--as such, we're taught to speak that way when it comes to describing the observations we make in the course of our studies.
[...Though, Cilan tends to speak that way even when it's not about Pokemon...]
It's considered a necessary ingredient in the lifestyle of a Pokemon Connoisseur, so... you'd probably be considered to have a strange taste if you didn't do so, I think.
[... Which is a pretty fancy way of saying yes, you have to talk like this if you're gonna call yourself a Pokemon Connoisseur.]
There are plenty of Pokemon Connoisseurs that are not chefs, but they still speak that way nonetheless.
[... So it's not really much of a factor stopping people from talking in food puns anyway.]
Of course, we all have our own unique spin to it too, despite that. After all, the way I might describe something's taste might be different in comparison to how another would describe it, due to their own personal feelings or abilities as a connoisseur.
Ah, I see... [Hizumi doesn't have to explain much to get Cilan to nod.]
Is there something that I can do to help?
[Are we talking that we need to be giving cooking lessons here, or full-blown kick this person's door down and shove food at them that you want happening here.]
[Kicking down the door is close, if impossible due to the kid not living in a space that has a door to kick down in the first place.
Despite living here for a month already.
Do not underestimate how bad this child is at taking care of himself.]
I guess... if you happen to have food on you, and you happen to see a kid with silvery hair and blue eyes walkin' around in all black and lookin' like he hasn't had a meal in a while...
Maybe give him a little somethin' to keep him goin'?
[He even helpfully provides a mental image. This kid is... definitely skin and bones, by the looks of him. Not to the point of being in danger of starvation, but concerning nevertheless.]
[The link cuts right after Cilan's had a chance to see the boy. There's a lot of complicated feelings about this kid, and he's not about to let any of it through.]
Eyes Rutherford. He's from the same world as me, but... he's from a few years back, so even though he's supposed to be a year older than me, he's just a kid.
He's this famous musician by my time, but it looks like this place grabbed him before his debut. He always came off as pretty serious in all the interviews I caught... it was a huge surprise to find out he's a real brat.
[... His name is literally Eyes--actually you know what, Cilan's friends with a guy whose name is literally the letter "N", he can accept this as a real name too.]
Hm, I think I understand this taste: regardless of where and when people come from, when it's someone with a familiar flavor, we can't help but take interest in them despite the circumstances.
[That's probably why Cilan seemed to care an awful lot about Trip, or even said letter-name N for the brief time that he was here, despite the fact that particular N didn't know Cilan very well.]
Don't worry: if I see him, I'll do whatever I can to help him out.
I'll keep that in mind. [Like Hizumi suspects, Cilan's kind of used to dealing with people and Pokemon like that. He'll just have to do his best here if he sees this Eyes kid around somewhere.
Cilan's Pokemon, from where they've been listening, also offer a nod (Pansage in particular offering a salute too); if they see that Eyes kid, they'll try to do whatever they can to help too?]
[One of what? Well, who knows. It'll be up to Cilan to cash in on it - provided he actually does end up catching Eyes at some point. Currently, Hizumi's strategy is to cast a wide net and see what happens.
Doesn't change the fact that he's actually pretty cheery for the extra help, though. Did the air just grow a bit warmer?]
Anyway, I should probably take off before Ayumu starts askin' where I am.

Hmmmmmmm...
Yeah, they're still pretty weird looking. He crouches down a bit to get a look at Pansage in particular.]
...They resemble animals from my world, but... They're a lot more exaggerated, I'd say. [Yeah, that's a word for it.]
So these guys are just everywhere where you're from?

It's not confusin' to come across others?

[But hey, that's not all that different from pet owners who can recognize their own right away.]
Gotta say though, the way you put it, it makes 'em sound like delicious meals.
[...Unless they really are meals, since they seem to be the animals of Cilan's world?? Hell if he knows.]

Hey... You're good with cookin' and an-- sorry, pokémon, right?

[Why do you ask?]

...Ahhh, it might be too much of a pain.
[Scratches at the back of his head as he considers this.]
Basically... there's this Otherworlder kid I know who stinks at feedin' himself.

Thanks, I'd really appreciate it. [This may be one of the most genuine things he's said to Cilan.]
Just... be careful too, alright? He's sorta like a feral cat or somethin'. Real wary around strangers, y'know?
[Though if Cilan's used to working with ani- pokémon, hopefully he'll have an idea of how to help out despite that.]
