Need to talk privately with Cilan? Send him a message via the crystal or carrier pigeon? Want to meet with him without posting a log for it? Here's the place to do it!
[The air around him does turn a slight shade of purple momentarily, but thankfully not as dark or as long-lasting as it usually is whenever Gengar makes an appearance as he offers an awkward smile, complete with visible sweatdrop.]
Yes, so... please do your best to help us.
[And then he turns his attention to Red.]
Once they're asleep, we can try to move in for a closer look. Perhaps we'll figure out a way to help them in their current state, or at least relocate them to a spot with a more appetizing taste for them than here.
[ Don't be so anime, Cilan. The plan of action gets a hum of agreement from Red, and the boy nods to Gengar. ] You got it?
[ Heheha, of course, of course! And up she goes, feet lifting off the ground and making her way into the nose, gnawing her teeth in a disgruntled expression for in the noise that doesn't really bother her. But Red doesn't keep focused on her knowing she'll do as asked, turning back to Cilan instead. ]
Can Pansage use Grasswhistle after Gengar's Hypnosis takes effect? It should distract them from the other noise until Gengar quiets everyone down.
[ Too bad none of them had Helping Hand to spread out Gengar's hypnosis out more, and quicker instead. ...not that Red knew what Helping Hand was at all. But this idea was a different type of helping hand, with waves of Gengar's hypnotic power coming on down over some of the monsters. ]
[Maybe that's something Cilan could teach Pansage to do at some point during our stay here...]
Of course. [Pokeball, out.] Ready, Pansage? It's showtime!
[Out comes Pansage, who gives a salute. Don't worry guys, you can count on us! We'll do our best to distract them with Grasswhistle until Gengar's Hypnosis has set in for all of them.
While that's going on and once it looks like it might be okay to risk getting closer...]
...Until proven otherwise, we should probably keep from touching them in case it turns out there's something on their skin that might be in bad taste.
[You never know, they might have poisonous spines or something and that wouldn't be good at all.]
[ Like the nido line. Red can agree with that, nodding his head, the area now reaching a more calmer state without the high pitched meows to attack their ears. Did one of them just sneeze?
That's cute. ]
What do you think made them come out from the forest? They didn't get very far. Something seemed to have them upset, too... [ Which hopefully isn't a ghostly type hovering around them, coming in close to their faces and just watching them snooze, occasionally sneezing. It's easier to hear now without the cries. ] Should we try and follow the way they came to investigate?
[They are definitely cuter now that they're calmer, though who knows how long that will last...]
Hm... I think it would be good to investigate, but we should have a pair of eyes here as well. One of us, or one of our Pokemon could watch them while we go in to the forest, and that way if something changes with them, we'll know to come back here sooner.
[ Who, her? Have a wave and a sound of glee. Oh yes, leave her with these vulnerable creatures indeed. ]
Alright. I'll have Jolteon help us too!
[ Because hey, the one pokémon with the expert nose that he has might just be good for this. Out comes the little spiky guy, and it shouldn't take them all that long to find their tracks with the muddy-snowy weather that's still plaguing them, directing them into the forest. ]
Before they wake up, do you want to take a picture of them?
Oh, yes! [Thanks for reminding him--just give him a moment to get this camera ready and the shot lined up. Cilan seems to watch the sleeping cats carefully, prepared in case they suddenly wake up, but--]
Okay, it's photo time! [Click! Picture, get! The camera does have a flash, but it doesn't look like it's had the immediate effect of disturbing the cats... (and if it did, maybe we'll be lucky and they'll just roll over to try going back to sleep...?)]
I'll have to wait until later to see how the photo developed, but this should do for now. [After making a quick note in his journal, he tucks it and the camera away as Pansage hops up onto Cilan's shoulder, it's task having been completed. Are we good to head into the forest now?]
But they're good to head into the forest now! And Jolteon will take a bit of a lead, sniffing up a storm. So many scents! And just for now, let's intervene this quest with a little small talk. ]
How long have you had that camera for? Are you into photography too? [ In a long list of hobbies that Cilan is an expert in. ]
Well, I wouldn't necessarily call myself a Photo Connoisseur in regards to this particular interest, but I do think that photography is fascinating all the same: the marriage between a miraculous moment in time caught on film, and the photographer who captures that moment is truly a wonderful experience to taste~!
[...And then he sort of softens a bit on the dramatics here, as he glances at the camera he brought.]
As for the camera... it was one of the ones Trip acquired during his stay here, and it has since ended up in my possession now. [...Which, this is honestly the first time that Cilan has actually said anything about Trip being gone to someone, but he keeps going, still sounding cheerful.] And since a photo would go a long way in regards to documenting the information we've gathered on the creatures living here, I thought it would be nice to use it rather than simply gathering dust somewhere.
Ah, I see. [...] Well then, I apologize for not saying something sooner: two months ago, Trip left this place and has since resumed his journey in Unova, or so I presume.
[Cilan has no way of knowing what Trip is up to now, but as long as Trip is back home, then that's what's important...]
We are close, yes, but... as a friend, I believe that this is a good thing.
[He's smiling, but there's a slight chill in the air to accompany it, feeling clearly conflicted on this matter...]
This melancholy flavor certainly has a bittersweet taste to it, but it's to be expected when one has to deal with a friend's departure. I'll miss him, and regret that I wasn't able to at least say goodbye before he left, but at the same time, I'm also happy that he's now free to continue his journey back home, rather than being forced to continue lingering at this station.
[And Trip was definitely not having a great time in this place, given past events that have occurred here, so really, it's for the best, isn't it?]
I guess...it isn't a big deal. It's good he's gone back home just like you said. And if you're really okay about it, then that's all that really matters. You don't have to act any other way.
But-- he left, and you're still here. I remember how you was thinking about Ash before. [ ... ] You and Trip were living together too.
[ Had they before Trip left? What had Cilan been doing since? Just continuing on like they all would have to do no matter what occurred? ]
I just want to know you're fine no matter what. That's all.
[ ...which is all touching and all, but Pansage this is Team Jolteon on ground, do you see something weird and glowy over in that direction-- ]
[Red, the more you have to say about this, the more cold and damp the air starts to feel here...]
Yes, I know, and I really do appreciate the concern, but--hm?
[This is Team Pansage, reporting from the treetops to confirm that yes, there does appear to be something weird and glowy over where you were looking Jolteon, so now the Pokemon is waving a paw at the trainers below to get their attention.]
Oh, it looks like the Pokemon spotted something. [Our conversation can totally be paused until we go see what that's about, right?]
[ It totally can. Jolteon's moving briskly in to get a view of the specks up in the air, a dance of colours that remind him of something but he can't just place. ]
What is it? [ Jolteon will tell you what it is--it's everywhere, ugggh. Even higher than the small pokémon realises, his feet backing away but he's then shaking his head, sneezing out and whining. It got in his eyeees...! ]
[Oh dear, is Jolteon okay? Cilan signals for Pansage to stay put from where it's in the trees as he risks taking a step closer, hand over his nose and mouth for a moment as he uses the other hand to touch the air, feeling the substance between his fingers.]
It appears to be a powder of some kind... spores from a plant or something else nearby? [Takes a step back away from it, starts to lower his hand back down from his face for a second so that he can be heard a little more clearly...] We'd best be cautious about this taste until we know for sure whether or not it's sa--
[And then Cilan suddenly sneezes too because uh, oops, he might have inhaled some of it by accident just now too, good job buddy.]
