Need to talk privately with Cilan? Send him a message via the crystal or carrier pigeon? Want to meet with him without posting a log for it? Here's the place to do it!
[ The weather is chilly, but bustling of the streets and the wide stretch of the tree in the centre of the market stops the snow from spreading as much as it could, and the company of Charizard--munching away on hot potatoes, one of which Red has himself balancing on his lap with a small fork stabbed into the top--keeps them from getting too bad a case of the chills with his tail out for them.
There's a small notebook sitting on his knee, kept there for the second he awkwardly scribbles something inside it, then closes it with the pencil tucked inside to sit at the side. Writing away is not how you're supposed to have lunch, or something. ]
Hey, Cilan-- how do you feel about the arehtei?
[ Conversation is always acceptable however, right? ]
[Cilan doesn't have any fire-type Pokemon here, so he certainly appreciates Charizard helping to keep the two of them from becoming cold out here. He does have a nice cup of tea though, which he sets back down in front of him upon hearing Red's question.]
The Arehtei? [Hm...] ... To me, they have a similar flavor to that of Pokemon, particularly the ones that are often spoken of in legends. And considering the power and influence that the Arehtei have here, they're certainly worthy of respect, just like the legendary Pokemon are.
[There's a bit of a pause, before--]
Though, that influence they have is sometimes worrisome in regards to how everyone's emotions work here: if too many of us are angry or upset, then it can cause the Arehtei to have some particularly bitter mood-swings. And as we've learned, the repercussions of that tend to have an undesirable taste.
[...Maybe he shouldn't think about Sosyne though, it's causing his tea to start bubbling like boiling water for a second or two before he shakes his head.]
That said, however, I like them and I care about their well-being. I want everyone here to be at peace, and that includes them as well.
[...]
What about you? How do you feel about the Arehtei?
[ Red nods a few times during Cilan's response, agreeing at points. The pause before his own answer is short. ]
I sympathise with them. They're beings with incredible power and knowledge who have been suffering for a long time, and we should work with them whatever way we can to help the world get better. If Thras can keep a city alive down below for all that time, there's no telling what we can all do if we make the effort to work as a team.
[ A very large team, but a team all the same. He twists his fork into his potato. ]
That's why I've been trying to push the idea of people representing the arehtei for. Not everyone trusts them, and the arehtei don't always know how to make people more comfortable with them-- but we can fix that if we helped each other out.
...if the majority wants that, anyway.
[ It's not said exactly bitterly, but it's a reality he understands might be the outcome of such an effort, and takes a bite out of his food with it sitting in his mind. ]
Alvin and I talked about something like that during the town meeting recently. [...Did Alvin get the idea from having talked to Red about it?] I said that it would be good if we had someone speaking on behalf of the Arehtei, though personally I believe that should be for the Arehtei to decide, at least in regards to picking who they would want representing them.
[Cilan would happily do it if the Arehtei asked him to, but otherwise, he'll respect whatever decision they make for representatives.]
I do too, and I'm asking the arehtei about it. Thras has already agreed to it. [ But, let's reel back, Red pausing for a moment. ] ...Alvin was the man I came up the idea with. Ideally, I'd want the arehtei to be represented by people they get along with; they might have some ideas of who they'd like, but it needs to be people who'd want to take on a role like that too.
Anyway, that part isn't important right now. [ A shake of his head. ] The important part is what the arehtei think. I still need to talk to Peromei and Elios, Daimonia... and Sosyne still needs help getting through to.
... Well, if you don't mind my assistance on this matter, I could help you with talking to them? Daimonia is the one I'm aligned to, so I could try contacting her and getting her opinion on this taste...
[It would probably be a lot easier on Red if we did that, right?]
I've spoken to her before, and yes, I can confirm that she is indeed quite pleasant to talk to.
[...And also probably has the patience of a saint, if she's actually managed to put up with listening to the way Cilan kind of rambles at her when talking or writing letters to her...]
I'll try to get in contact with her again, and once I've gotten her opinion on the idea of representatives here, I'll be sure to let you know what she says.
Thank you. [ Red bows his head here, the air losing its chill to the cozy warmth coming through via emotions. ] The more people who get involved, the more we can get the idea out there and find a way to make it work!
