Need to talk privately with Cilan? Send him a message via the crystal or carrier pigeon? Want to meet with him without posting a log for it? Here's the place to do it!
[At first, Cilan seems a little surprised by Red's words, but then...]
Impressive... very impressive! [Ahaha] Yes, that's exactly what I like to hear! I can already tell that you have the passion needed to obtain the title of Pokemon Champion!!
[Cilan's practically glowing, vibrating with energy now.]
Of course, as for having the strength of a Pokemon Champion, I'll have to judge that for myself: a battle, like any meal, must be tasted first before you truly know anything about the nature of the challenger and the bond they share with their Pokemon.
[ There's only one ball he can grab for now from his belt, his own vibrant energy warm and intense. The curl of his lips turn it into a smirk. Alright. ]
In that case, you better be ready for the explosion to your tastebuds!
[ Are we gonna slide, we are gonna slide, arm bending and ball thrown out with a bursting fire to release Charizard out, wings spreading to keep him airborne. ]
[SLIIIIDE TO THE LEFT... I mean, he's taking a pokeball out now, and with a dramatic spin to his movements--]
It's showtime~! Let's go, Crustle!
[Out comes Crustle, a large hermit-crab looking Pokemon whose shell appears to be a huge rock that's twice the size of the crab carrying it. They take a moment to size up Charizard with interest--this isn't their first time seeing one, what with Ash having one as well, but... he had always wanted to battle Ash's Charizard, but somehow they never really got around to having an official battle outside of just doing training exercises together. This should be interesting...]
As the Gym Leader, I'll allow you to have the first move if you wish. Please, start off with whatever attack you'd like.
[ It's like some parasect cousin or something with a rock on top of it than a mushroom. Did that give a clue to its typing? And here he had some expectations towards grass--
but that could be still possible, and that's great. Red can't wipe the giddy expression off his face (a new pokémon, uncertainty of what he's facing), though his lips do line with the tightness of his lips. ]
Remember, this isn't a gym match! [ But, if that's how Cilan wants to be-- ] Use Air Slash!
[ The push of his wings causes the dust to pick up, sharp on either side of Red when he shows his speed; the noise of it fills the air as he ascends up, and then his body jerks to make a turn and to allow the wings to send out blades, slicing downward with a power that'll explode the surrounding ground and cause debris to scatter.
Let's see just how resilient this rock bug thing really is-- ]
[Sorry Red, old habits die hard and that happens to be one of them that he has a habit of keeping even during non-gym matches sometimes. Besides, he's always interested in seeing what kind of move their opponent leads with before we make our own move.
As it turns out, Crustle is pretty resilient. They make no effort to try to dodge the attack, simply holding it's claws up to protect it's face for a moment as the Air Slash whips around it. It winces a little from where the air slash is making contact with it's arms, but otherwise it doesn't seem to scratch Crustle's shell.]
Air Slash, hm... well, let's see how your Pokemon reacts to this!
[And here, he points upward.]
Crustle, use Rock Slide!
[Crustle holds up it's claws above it now, and if Red and Charizard look up, they'll see that there appears to be large rocks being summoned from thin air to drop down from the sky above them, especially right above the area that Charizard is currently flying in.]
A rock starts appear right in front of Charizard's air path that makes him jolt back, altitude lowering as he moves to duck. But they're large, weighted; that's a different course of action's already formulated in Red's mind, hand whipping out. ]
Mega Punch!
[ A hand gets covered in a glowing light, but there's another rock already falling that clips a wing, wobbling him, making his feet hit the ground with how close he already is by then to it. But he roars, eyelids clenched in the same moment he takes the gamble in swinging up his in an uppercut motion to test the strength of his arm against the strength of one of those rocks.
But let's be real, he's smacked harder things than that. Rock splinters and the dust from the scattered rocks blows mists a level of the ground, but Charizard still stands visible, not completely avoiding damage from that but flicking open his claw with a defiant grunt, wings the same motion. But let's not get comfortable now- ]
Show them what you think of that!
[ What does that mean--that means pick one of those rocks right back up and throw it. ]
[He should perhaps be a little worried that Charizard was able to punch one of Crustle's rocks hard enough to shatter it, but... that was so fucking cool watching that oh my gosh. In fact, it's inspiring, causing some anticipation and excitement as both trainer and Pokemon watch as Charizard grabs one of the rocks and proceeds to try to hurl it back at them.]
Use X-Scissor!
[Crustle holds it's claws up again--this time though, they begin to glow as, despite it's large size, it manages jump and throw itself right at the rock, bringing it's claws down at the rock coming towards it, attempting to cut through it in an x-shape manner, like so. There are bits of rock that splinter and go flying about--some back toward us, some in danger of hitting Charizard too if he's too close, but the point here is showing that Crustle is capable of taking having a rock thrown at us pretty well as it lands back down on the ground, taking a moment to catch it's breath before looking back up at Charizard.
What do you think of that? Anything else you wanna try to throw at us now?]
[ They're not sitting around watching the show, Charizard up on his wings again when the rock gets split apart, and a shout from Red with a clear instruction-- ]
Seismic toss!
[ There's your answer, rocky. The apparent size of the bug's rock doesn't sway either of the pair, with one push of the fire type's wings to close in the distance upon receiving the instruction, claws coming down as Crustle's looking over his way. Get ready to be grabbed--
dang u heavy
--but still not an issue here, the muscles in Charizard's arms tightening with the weight they now have to support. Nothing compared to a golem, yet still plenty of an armful, enough to get a burst of life at the end of his tail with the energy quick to surround. All they need is to go up, then for Charizard to turn, for fire to spit from his mouth when he raises Crustle just by a few more inches--
and then he throws the pokémon back down to Empatheias with force, flapping higher into the air with the release, arms resting for the time they can back down with the weight now gone. But Red isn't going to rest when he hears the crash. Not against a trainer--a gym leader--he wants to give his all to, and give their all to him back. There's an opening right there, to hopefully crack through those hard defences. ]
Now -- fire blast!
[ Always a finishing move more than not in their battles, but who knew if this would be the same. All that can be known that it's hot from the moment the fire build between Charizard's opened jaws, spinning larger than his head as it comes out--before it turns into a symbol, crashing on down to add to the mess that already exists, Red's hand already holding onto his hat. Gifs are always cool. ]
I forgot if I already said this but the next Pokemon is gonna be Stunfisk
[Oh shit, that's not good. For a second, both Pokemon and trainer are a little surprised when Charizard actually manages to pick up Crustle (who, by the way, is 440 pounds so wow Charizard, dang you strong) and lift it into the air. However, the moment Crustle is thrown back downward towards the ground, when Cilan sees the fire brewing from Charizard's open mouth--]
Shell Smash!
[It's hard to tell what exactly is happening here, because this command is given right as Crustle's large rock ends up crashing into the ground with enough force to kick up a ton of dirt and obscure what we're seeing here. Fire Blast doesn't help either, because once that comes down on top of them, it just adds to the vision obscurity.
And then... just as the dirt and smoke start to fade, there is a crab with no shell suddenly coming straight for Charizard, body glowing bright red and claws raised. It looks like it was Sturdy haha see what I did there enough to survive the crash to the ground, and thanks to Shell Smash, it's detached the rock it was attached to in order to gain a significant amount of speed to move away in time when the fire came raining down.
The downside of this, of course, is that now it doesn't have it's shell to protect it and is currently on it's last legs (thanks for taking the brunt of that Seismic Toss, Sturdy ability, but now it's HP is very low...), but that doesn't stop them from trying to get one more blow in before they're out.]
X-Scissor, once more! [And now, it raises those claws even higher above it, preparing to bring them down on Charizard. Is Charizard fast enough to hit Crustle in time before the other Pokemon can make contact with it?]
...I thought I had already tagged this but APPARENTLY I AM DUMB, SORRY FOR HOW LATE THIS IS
Impressive... very impressive! [Ahaha] Yes, that's exactly what I like to hear! I can already tell that you have the passion needed to obtain the title of Pokemon Champion!!

bans you
In that case, you better be ready for the explosion to your tastebuds!

you can't ban me from my own journal
