[ Then let's make our way to the client with the directions we've been given! Which the pair will soon discover is on the upper level of some shops, the buildings interconnected with one another on both sides of the road.
...which will become important later, but for the time-being it's an enthusiastic client and two pokéguys for now, with the smell of the spices welcoming them into the open living space, and then that of the crisp, unmistakable smell of fresh produce waiting them on a spacious kitchen table, bringing to the room a sense of colour in an otherwise minimalist layout. But the person is as vibrant as the foods offered, quick to introduce themselves and the foods, and slicing into pieces to offer to taste and compare, for confirmation, the foods they've already heard about that they're more than willing to hear them get into, and their own opinions.
Even Red's, who's told to stay as well despite his honesty about knowing very little about food, and his best in describing the tastes can't be compared to whatever Cilan will have to say, but he wears his initial and after reactions loosely, always too late to cover them up. (He sees the akidata fruit there, having spotted it earlier in the day with all the newcomers and never trying it for the smell, but actually enjoying it once he dares to taste it--it's popular in desserts, and even some drinks, will be shared with Cilan.)
Somewhere in this however, before any actual cooking is done, words said about their coming here not long after their arrival will get a few drasks handed their way, and the offer to spend an hour to see what's on sell before the stalls wrap up than just what's already here, and for Cilan to buy anything that catches his eye that he thinks he can use for cooking with. They've invited friends over later to see and sample the end results, so absolutely nothing will go wasted.
They're offered cots and a place to stay to go with them as well when that subject comes up (by Red, and very politely, okay Cilan!!), so they can leave their extra gear and walk with less heavy shoulders than they did when they leave. ...which Red definitely will, now that he's not carrying rice on his back, and he's rolling them even once they're back on the street, but he's paying more attention to whatever Cilan's current mood is than the marks that might still be imprinted into his skin. ]
So? What do you think so far?
[ Red will be utterly disappointed if all that food nerding has not put Cilan in such a blissful state of existence because that is what we're grinning about here and expecting to see. ]
